Job Title: Mechanical Engineer
Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Mechanical Engineer to join our client’s team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing and overseeing mechanical systems and equipment installations primarily in VA Medical Centers across the country. You will collaborate closely with architects, contractors, and other engineers to ensure that all mechanical systems meet VA guidelines and function correctly.
Key Responsibilities:
Design mechanical systems, including HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection, for VAMC renovation and construction projects.
Review and evaluate existing mechanical systems and make recommendations for upgrades or replacements.
Create detailed mechanical drawings and specifications.
Coordinate with other design professionals, such as architects and electrical engineers, to ensure seamless integration of mechanical systems.
Review contractor submittals and shop drawings to ensure compliance with VA design standards.
Conduct on-site inspections and testing of mechanical systems to ensure proper installation and functionality.
Provide technical support to construction teams during installation and commissioning.
Collaborate with VA staff and stakeholders to ensure that mechanical systems meet VA guidelines and operational requirements.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related field.
Professional Engineering (PE) license preferred.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in mechanical design for renovation projects.
In-depth knowledge of mechanical systems, including HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection.
Familiarity with VA design standards and guidelines is preferred.
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Willingness to travel to different VAMC locations across the country as needed.
