Job Title: Process Piping Designer (Remote)
Job Summary:
As a Process Piping Designer, you will be responsible for designing and developing piping systems layouts for various projects, primarily focused on water and wastewater facilities. Using both 2D and 3D design applications, you will create layouts including pipe spacing, fitting arrangements, valve placements, and other in-line components based on engineering inputs such as P&IDs, sketches, and catalog data.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop piping systems layouts including pipe spacing, fitting makeup, valve locations, and in-line components in 3D applications and 2D drawings from sketches, catalog cut sheets and P&IDs provided by engineers and senior design staff
- Coordination of modeling and drawing production activities between all disciplines at the project level
- Provide quality checking of drafted products and conformance with modeling and drawing production standards including project specific CAD/BIM requirements
- Generate 2D drawing views from 3D design models and develop into final contract drawings
- Provide basic CAD technical support for junior level drafting staff
Qualifications:
- Working knowledge of industry pipe standards such as AWWA and ANSI B16
- Advanced level of proficiency in the development of 2D mechanical design drawings
- Extensive knowledge of 3D design concepts
- Proficient with Revit 3D functions
- Fundamental knowledge of BIM as it relates to process mechanical design for piping, valves, in-line components and equipment
- Practical knowledge in Autodesk Revit Piping, and Equipment Modeling
- Working understanding of structural design and the interface between structural components and mechanical equipment and piping
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal
- Minimum of 7 years’ experience working in engineering design
- Experience in detail design of water and wastewater facilities and related infrastructure
- Associate degree in related technical field
- Knowledge of BIM360 and Navisworks is a plus
