Position Overview:
Spero Technology is looking for a detail-oriented GIS Editor to join our team. This role involves planning, coordinating, and executing activities essential for processing GIS Change Requests using linear referencing within an ArcGIS versioned database. The ideal candidate will have experience working with safety-critical systems and initiatives, as well as a strong understanding of change management processes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan, prioritize, and carry out tasks related to GIS Change Requests using linear referencing within an ArcGIS versioned database.
- Ensure the correct application of Change Management Processes to support safety-critical systems and related initiatives.
- Conduct editing and analysis tasks involving heads-up digitizing, LiDAR Point Cloud feature extraction, and handling Trimble SSF and ESRI GIS data formats.
- Perform data maintenance and QA/QC activities using ArcGIS Desktop software and in-house tools.
- Accurately record and communicate detailed change notes to team members and customers.
- Understand and analyze railroad data as it is converted into various formats.
- Stay informed about and adhere to company policies, FRA Standards, and government regulations.
Minimum Qualifications:
- A college degree is preferred, or a minimum of 5 years of experience with ArcGIS desktop in data editing, with change management at the core of all functions.
- Strong proficiency in ArcMap 10.X editing, versioning, validation, and analysis tools.
- Solid working knowledge of ESRI Products.
- Exceptional organizational skills with a strong drive for results.
- Self-motivated and capable of working independently, with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Flexibility to work irregular and varying hours as needed.
- Willingness to learn and adhere to safe railroad operations and practices.
- Strong communication skills, both in one-on-one and group settings.
- Safety-conscious mindset with the ability to support and contribute to a robust safety culture.
- Enrollment and certification in eRailSafe.
Desired Qualifications:
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Familiarity with linear referencing systems.
- Experience in technical writing.
- Previous experience in a GIS group, particularly within the transportation sector (railroad experience preferred).
