Release Train Engineer
Location: Topeka, KS or Fort Worth, TX (4 days/week onsite required)
Position Overview: We are seeking a dedicated Release Train Engineer to join our team, focusing on our mainframe modernization roadmap program. This role requires a servant leader and coach for the Agile Release Train (ART). The successful candidate will support Program Increment (PI) Execution in a multi-workstream mainframe modernization program, coordinating and aligning ART activities with program goals.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Support PI Execution: Implement PI Planning and monitor progress in a multi-workstream mainframe modernization program.
  • Program and Project Level Work: Ability to work effectively at both the program and project levels.
  • Revenue Modernization Project: Support a revenue modernization project developed offshore.
  • Project Management: Manage a set of interdependent projects, identifying and managing scope, schedule, budget, quality, and risks on large projects.
  • Financial Management: Prepare financial updates, analysis, and forecasts for assigned projects/programs; track expenses and recommend financially sound actions to the leadership team.
  • Mentorship: Mentor fellow team members and accelerate business adoption through effective change enablement practices.
  • Strategic Vision: Provide strategic vision and direction for projects/programs, driving independent teams to deliver business value.
Project Details:
  • Development and Modernization: Projects are mid-tier development and modernization, mostly Java, largely outsourced to a development vendor, using an onshore/offshore model.
  • Work Environment: Hybrid work environment with the contractor reporting to the TS Delivery Services (PMO) team and following the delivery services framework.
  • Project Methodologies: The first project will be mostly waterfall, while the second project may be more hybrid agile. Full requirements and user workflows are defined and approved for the first project; work will begin with an updated charter and then development.
